Description
한자를 쉽게 익히려면 먼저 그 한자가 어떻게 만들어졌는지 배경을 살펴보는 것이 중요하다. 따라서 이 책에서는 한·중·일 3개국 학자들의 의견과 상형문자인 갑골문과 금문을 근거로 삼고 그 위에 개인적인 의견을 더하여 한자가 만들어진 원리를 설명하려고 노력하였다.
수록 한자는 ‘사람’, 그리고 그 사람이 살아가는 ‘삶’, 그들의 삶의 터전인 ‘자연’이라는 세 개의 테마로 나누어 실었다. 사람은 다시 한자의 모양이나 의미적인 특성을 이해하기 쉽게 신체, 사람, 명칭 부분으로 나누어 실었다. 삶과 관련된 한자는 전쟁, 의·식·주, 직업으로 분류하여 인류의 발전과 함께 관련 한자들이 어떻게 생성되어 왔는가를 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 자연과 관련된 한자는 사람이 살아가면서 만나게 된 동물과 자연을 이루는 산천초목, 천체 그리고 숫자와 부호들을 다룬 기타로 분류하였다.
이와 같이 분류한 한자를 특허 받은 퍼즐 학습법으로 정리하였다. 퍼즐 학습법은 크게 ‘퍼즐 부분’과 ‘해설 부분’으로 나뉘는데, 퍼즐 부분에서는 하나의 중심 한자에 연결 한자가 붙어서 새로운 기본 한자가 되는 과정을 퍼즐로 보여준다. 해설 부분에서는 퍼즐로 제시된 각 한자의 생성 원리에 대해 설명하고 해당 한자가 들어간 단어를 정리하였다. 핵심한자 182자, 기초한자 969자가 수록되어 있다.
Japanese kanji are represented as pictograms which are based on the shape of objects. If you feel even slightly disheartened that you will have to memorize each one of them, then do not worry. Just as the English language learning system is based on alphabets (A, B, C, etc.) which are a set of characters that represent the phonemic structure of the language; similarly, kanji learning has about 250 basic and radical characters. Remember that you can combine these kanji or break them in order to easily read, write and understand them.
How must one learn the basic characters?
This book is written to help you understand the origin and usage of each character. Now you can recall instead of memorize. To remember means to strengthen the synapses which connect your brain cells. Synapses can be strengthened by stimulating the ve senses - smell, hearing, taste, vision and touch. When multiple senses are used together, the memory lasts longer. Better results can be achieved when such stimuli is coupled by unforced repetition. One good way of strengthening the synapses is to repeat the same stimulation. This book expands on the basic character by adding parts that give new meaning in a radical form. This means you are exposed to the same basic character multiple times.
Learning that can be used immediately
By learning how these kanji came to be, you can also learn how adding a certain component changes the meaning. For example, the character "突[トツ]" depicts a cave(穴) out of which a dog(大→犬) jumps, and came to mean ‘suddenly.’ Once you know that origin, you will be able to understand why "突" also means ‘dash or protrude.’
