현 ‘공감커뮤니케이션연구소’대표이자 전남대학교 객원 교수이다.
대학에서 심리학을 전공했고, 언론학 박사 학위를 받았다.
KBS와 TBN에서 아나운서와 MC로 일했으며, 여러 행사 개막식과 토론회, 토크쇼 사회자로 활발하게 활동하고 있다. 11년째 전국경제인연합회에서 임원들의 말하기 강사로 인기가 높다. 대학, 공공기관, 기업 등 수많은 기관에서 ‘공감과 설득커뮤니케이션’, ‘전달력’에 관해 강의하고 있다.

28년 동안 말 공부를 하면서 말이란 자신을 드러내기 위해 쓸 때보다 서로 마음을 나누고 연대할 때, 그리고 상처를 치유하는 데 쓸 때 빛이 나는 것임을 깨달았다. 내 앞에 있는 사람의 말을 온전하게 경청하고, 상대의 처지를 배려하면서 말하는 것만으로도 따뜻하고 조화를 이루는 사회를 만들 수 있다고 믿는다.

저서로는 『박진영의 말하기 특강』, 『한순간에 관계를 망치는 결정적 말실수』, 『잘 들어볼래』, 『아나운서처럼 매력있게 말하기』가 있다.
