Description
심리학은 흥미롭다. 나와 내 주위 사람에 대한 학문이기 때문이다. 심리학에 대한 관심은 심리학 관련 도서의 숫자만 보아도 알 수 있다. 이런 폭발은 당연하다. 현재 사회적 환경과 개인적 상황 모두 심리학적 지식을 요구하고 있기 때문이다.

심리학은 그 어떤 학문보다 인간에 의한, 인간을 위한, 인간의 학문이다. 심리학을 배우면서 자기를 이해하고, 또한 주위 사람과 그들이 이루는 사회를 이해할 뿐만 아니라, 심리학을 통하여 치유하고 성장하는 기회가 되기를 바란다. 따라서 지식으로서 심리학을 넘어 현장에서 활용되는 심리학이기를 기대한다. 이를 위해서 첫째, 심리학적 발견을 보여주는 주요 개념들을 잘 이해하고, 둘째, 이런 발견들이 무엇을 설명하고, 어떤 현실을 반영하는지 현실에 적용하기를 권고한다.

박천식
경성대 심리학과에 재직하고 있다. 부산대 심리학과를 졸업한 후 대학원에서 인지심리 전공으로 석·박사를 취득했다. 한국영재연구원 연구실장, (재)부산인적자원개발원 사무국장 등을 역임했으며, 다양한 교육 프로그램 개발, 기타 지역 인적자원개발 관련 연구 및 대학사업 관련 평가 및 컨설팅 등을 수행했다. 현재 ‘삶과 죽음’, ‘지혜’ 등에 관심을 가지고 있으며, ‘좋은 사람, 좋은 조직, 좋은 사회’에 대해 고민하고 있다. 특히 좋은 삶이 무엇인지, 어떻게 좋은 삶을 살 수 있는지, 이런 견지에서 ‘탁월함’과 ‘위대함’이 주는 함의는 무엇인지 질문하며, 모든 가치기준이 상대적으로 된 포스트모더니즘 시대에 삶의 방향과 올바른 좌표를 찾고자 열망한다. 저·역서로는 <심리학>(1999), <하지 말라고 하면 하고 싶고>(2000), <재미있는 심리학>(공저, 2010) 외 다수가 있다.
