Homecoming

Contemporary society’s tendency to venerate success and reprimand failure is plaguing humanity as a whole. As part of humanity, I am not immune to the influence of this tendency. Since time immemorial, I have been afraid of failing and yet have belittled my successes. Nevertheless, I am not perfect and cannot succeed in everything I do, so I have experienced several failures. When I do fail, however, my family always becomes the foothold to keep me standing so I can continue my life. Because they were always present beside me, I could escape the pitfalls of despair and self-deprecation. The future ahead of me will have many more and even bigger failures. By choosing to write this chronicle of my wondrously empowering family, I choose to indelibly etch their words on my heart to brace myself for those future failures.

현대 사회의 성공과 실패를 질책하려는 경향은 전반적으로 인간성을 괴롭히고 있다. 인류의 한 부분으로서 나는 이러한 경향의 영향을 받지 않는다. 태고적부터 나는 실패가 두려웠지만 나의 성공은 무시해왔다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 나는 완벽하지 않고 내가 하는 모든 일에서 성공할 수 없어, 그래서 나는 몇 번의 실패를 경험했다. 하지만 내가 실패했을 때, 내 삶을 지속할 수 있도록 가족은 항상 내가 서 있도록 하는 발판이 된다. 그들은 항상 내 곁에 있었기 때문에, 나는 절망과 자멸의 함정에서 벗어날 수 있었다. 내 앞날에는 더 많은 실패가 있을 것이다. 이 놀라운 힘을 발휘하는 가족의 연대기를 쓰기로 선택함으로써, 나는 미래의 실패에 대비해 마음에 지울 수 없이 그들의 말을 새겨 넣기로 했다.
